Make a flip-book
You will draw a small change on each page and flip them in order. Large jumps between pictures can make the motion harder to follow, so consistency matters more than detailed art.

What you need
- A pad of sticky notes
- A pencil
- A simple idea such as a moving dot
The rule
Change the picture a little on each page.
How to do it
- Choose one simple dot or shape that will move across the pages.
- Draw its starting position near one edge of the first page.
- Draw it a little further along on the next page.
- Repeat small changes across at least twelve pages.
- Hold the pad firmly and flip the pages with your thumb.
- Compare a slower flip with a comfortable faster one.
Why it works
Each page is a still picture, but its position changes slightly from the page before. When the sequence appears quickly enough, your visual system can interpret those changes as movement. The effect depends on timing, position changes and how consistently the shape is drawn. If pages stick or positions jump too far, the movement can look uneven. Keeping one simple shape makes it easier to explore those factors without a complicated drawing hiding the sequence.

- Compare small position changes with larger ones.
- Create a pause by repeating the same position on several pages.

Before you start
